Troubled skin affects people
regardless of age, gender, or race. Although troubled skin can affect
anyone, it is most common among teens and young adults. According to the
American Academy of Dermatology, troubled skin is the most common skin
condition in the United States, affecting up to 50 million Americans
annually (American Academy of Dermatology).
Based on 2018 population of 327.8 million, it means 15.3% suffer from
troubled skin. Troubled skin can be influenced and aggravated by the
type of food one eats, stress, drugs, hormonal, and wrong use of
cosmetics etc. the statistics vary from country to country.
Our skin keeps itself healthy and elastic via a balanced combination of oil and sweat. An imbalance caused by using harsh alkaline cleansers such as soap and foaming products may result in the skin trying to correct itself by producing even more oil which exacerbates the problem.
